Earlier this year Inmarsat installed a point of presence in Sydney with a direct link to the Earth station in Hawaii. This allows Australian customers to directly connect to the
Inmarsat Network via Ethernet metro links from metropolitan Brisbane, Sydney,  Melbourne and Canberra without leasing international links to the New York POP

There are three advantages of our new direct connect metro ethernet packages:-

1. Reduced Latency and jitter by cutting out link to New York.
2. Better security by avoiding public networks.
3. Customer control.  BGAN’s access rules to the internet via customer own router firewall.
